AICAR
What it is
AICAR (5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide, acadesine) is a small-molecule analogue of AMP. Inside cells it is phosphorylated to ZMP, which activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a central regulator of cellular energy balance.
