What it is

MOTS-c is a peptide encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. Discovered in 2015, it is studied as a mitochondrial signal that translocates to the nucleus under metabolic stress and regulates gene expression.

Where it has been studied

  • Insulin sensitivity models in rodents
  • Exercise and metabolic stress studies
  • Mitochondrial-nuclear signalling

Handling

  • Lyophilised peptides tolerate room temperature for several weeks in transit. Move to cold storage on receipt.
  • Reconstituted vials are typically used within three to four weeks at 2 to 8 °C; stability varies by compound.
  • Opened or unsealed vials cannot be returned. Transit damage must be documented within 24 hours.
